The GVAW encourages you to write and call is support of Oreo's Law, named after a dog who survived being thrown from a six-story building only to be killed by the ASPCA despite an offer by a sanctuary to take her in.  Sadly, animals need to be protected from animal shelters just as much as they need to be protected from other abusers.  This law would provide a safety net for animals in the New York sheltering system.  It is similar to legislation which has been in place in California for about 10 years.  If New York succeeds in passing Oreo's Law, they will serve as an example for other states to follow, including Georgia.  Lend the animals and animal advocates of New York a hand and support Oreo's Law.  Check out www.YesOnOreosLaw.com for more information.
