About Us

Georgia Voters for Animal Welfare (GVAW) is a grassroots network of Georgia advocates for animals.  The organization was founded in 2008 to support laws and lawmakers working for a safer, healthier and more humane Georgia.  GVAW’s organizational structure is informal – no governing board, bylaws, or funding source. The only requirement for membership is a commitment to use one’s voice and one’s vote to effect positive change for the voiceless in Georgia.

About Our Banner

The happy dog pictured in the banner at the top of this website is Grace, the miracle dog who survived the Liberty county gas chamber back in 2006.   Due to the publicity focused on her case, that chamber was shut down, but at least 11 are still operational in Georgia at this time.  She is the inspiration for Grace's Law (H.B. 788), which would ban the use of the gas chamber to kill shelter pets in Georgia.  Grace is loving life with her adopted family.   Grace's Law needs the support of Georgia residents now.
